I have been working in instructional design for a little over 8 years now but purely on a part time basis. Six months ago I made the leap into the full time arena and I am trying to build up clients and get enough work to get back to my previous full time salary. I have read, watched, listened to a number of freelancers to hear how they’ve done it and one of the common threads is a blog. A blog? Yes, a blog by a person who is trying to break into the arena writing about….nothing? (Side note – remember Seinfeld…a show about nothing? Maybe I should just call this blog Ramsey – a blog about nothing. hmmm….) In trying to come up with a topic for a blog post somehow related to ID that people could relate to, I was drawing a blank. And then it occurred to me, maybe I’m not the focus. Maybe I should just ask questions and let the people do the answering. What people? Well, hopefully you. First question…how do you start a new project? Do you have a ritual for a new project? I love a clean notebook. Is your ritual a clean notebook? I need a reason to buy more clean notebooks. What is your new project ritual?
